General description
Interleukin-15 is a homeostatic cytokine essential for NK cell, NKT cell, and memory CD8+ T cell development and survival. It exhibits potent anti-tumor activity and serves as a critical factor for generating durable adoptive cell therapy products. Recombinant Human IL-15 Protein (Y02701) is expressed from mammalian cells. It contains AA Asn 49 - Ser 162 (Accession # P40933), and is widely used in advanced cell culture, immunotherapy research, and cell therapy manufacturing.
Application
· NK Cell and CD8+ Memory T Cell Maintenance — Supports survival and proliferation of cytotoxic lymphocyte populations.
· CAR-T and TCR-T Cell Therapy Expansion — Enhances stem cell memory phenotype and in vivo persistence.
· Anti-Tumor Immunity Research — Models IL-15-mediated tumor rejection and immune cell activation.
· NKT Cell and Intraepithelial Lymphocyte Culture — Promotes the development and function of unconventional T cell subsets.
· Serum-Free Culture Systems — Suitable for chemically defined and xeno-free cell culture media.

Backgroud
Interleukin-15, also known as IL-15, is a four-helix bundle cytokine that signals through a receptor complex composed of IL-15Rα, IL-2/IL-15Rβ, and the common γ-chain. Unlike IL-2, which is secreted as a soluble factor, IL-15 is primarily presented in trans by IL-15Rα expressed on dendritic cells and monocytes, creating a localized signaling niche that preferentially supports NK cells and memory CD8+ T cells over regulatory T cells. This distinctive presentation mechanism underlies the non-redundant role of IL-15 in maintaining cytotoxic lymphocyte populations and its potential as a cancer immunotherapy with reduced toxicity compared to IL-2. IL-15 activates JAK1/JAK3-dependent STAT5 signaling that promotes cell survival through Bcl-2 upregulation and cell cycle progression through cyclin modulation. In cell therapy manufacturing, IL-15 in combination with IL-7 has emerged as a preferred cytokine cocktail for generating T cell and NK cell products with enhanced durability, stem cell memory characteristics, and therapeutic potency in adoptive transfer settings.
Q&A
Q1: What is IL-15 mainly used for?
IL-15 is primarily used for NK cell and memory T cell maintenance, CAR-T cell therapy expansion, anti-tumor immunity research, and NKT cell culture.
Q2: Is this IL-15 suitable for serum-free culture systems?
Yes. EastMabBio recombinant IL-15 is compatible with serum-free, xeno-free, and chemically defined media systems.
Q3: How should recombinant IL-15 be stored?
Lyophilized protein should be stored at -20°C or below. After reconstitution, aliquot and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Q4: What shipping conditions are used?
Products are shipped on dry ice with validated cold-chain packaging to maintain stability during international transportation.
Q5: Do you provide QC documents?
Yes. COA, MSDS, TSE-BSE statements, endotoxin reports, bioactivity data, and additional QC documentation are available upon request.
