Endotoxin: ≤10 EU/mg

Application Details

General description

Interleukin-3 is a hematopoietic growth factor that stimulates the proliferation and differentiation of multipotent hematopoietic progenitors across multiple lineages. It acts synergistically with other cytokines to support the early stages of blood cell development from bone marrow stem cells. Recombinant Human IL-3 Protein (Y02121H) is expressed from E. coli cells. It contains AA Ala 20 - Phe 152 (Accession # P08700), and is widely used in advanced cell culture, hematology research, and stem cell expansion.

Application

  • Hematopoietic Stem and Progenitor Cell Expansion — Supports early myeloid and erythroid lineage commitment.

  • Mast Cell and Basophil Differentiation — Drives the development and maturation of connective tissue mast cells.

  • Cord Blood Cell Culture — Enhances ex vivo expansion of CD34+ hematopoietic cells for transplantation.

  • Myeloid Leukemia Cell Line Maintenance — Sustains growth of factor-dependent leukemia cell models.

  • Serum-Free Culture Systems — Suitable for chemically defined and xeno-free cell culture media.

Backgroud

Interleukin-3, also known as IL-3 or multi-CSF, is a member of the short-chain helical cytokine family that signals through a heterodimeric receptor composed of IL-3Rα and the common β-chain (βc) shared with IL-5 and GM-CSF receptors. This receptor configuration underlies the overlapping biological activities of these cytokines while preserving lineage-specific effects through unique α-chain binding affinities. IL-3 activates JAK2-dependent signaling pathways that promote survival, proliferation, and differentiation of hematopoietic progenitors with multilineage potential. Unlike lineage-restricted factors such as erythropoietin or thrombopoietin, IL-3 supports the development of erythroid, myeloid, megakaryocytic, and mast cell lineages from primitive progenitors. In cell culture, IL-3 is frequently employed in combination with stem cell factor and other early-acting cytokines to maximize ex vivo expansion of cord blood and bone marrow CD34+ cells for transplantation research, as well as to maintain factor-dependent myeloid leukemia cell lines that require IL-3 for survival and proliferation.

Q&A

Q1: What is IL-3 mainly used for?

IL-3 is primarily used for hematopoietic stem cell expansion, mast cell differentiation, cord blood culture, and myeloid leukemia cell line maintenance.

Q2: Is this IL-3 suitable for serum-free culture systems?

Yes. EastMabBio recombinant IL-3 is compatible with serum-free, xeno-free, and chemically defined media systems.

Q3: How should recombinant IL-3 be stored?

Lyophilized protein should be stored at -20°C or below. After reconstitution, aliquot and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Q4: What shipping conditions are used?

Products are shipped on dry ice with validated cold-chain packaging to maintain stability during international transportation.

Q5: Do you provide QC documents?

Yes. COA, MSDS, TSE-BSE statements, endotoxin reports, bioactivity data, and additional QC documentation are available upon request.
