Product Details

General description

Leukemia Inhibitory Factor is a pleiotropic cytokine that maintains pluripotency in mouse embryonic stem cells and regulates hematopoiesis, neuronal development, and inflammation. It signals through the gp130 receptor complex. Recombinant Human LIF Protein (Y03001) is expressed from mammalian cells. It contains AA Ser 23 - Phe 202 (Accession # P15018), and is widely used in advanced cell culture, stem cell research, and developmental biology.

Application

· Mouse Embryonic Stem Cell Pluripotency Maintenance — Prevents differentiation and sustains self-renewal in mESC culture.

· Hematopoietic Progenitor Expansion — Supports the growth and colony formation of bone marrow cells.

· Neuronal Differentiation — Promotes astrocyte differentiation and motor neuron survival.

· Inflammation and Acute Phase Response Research — Models LIF-mediated hepatic and immune responses.

· Serum-Free Culture Systems — Suitable for chemically defined and xeno-free cell culture media.

Backgroud

LIF is a member of the IL-6 cytokine family that signals through the LIFRβ/gp130 receptor complex, activating JAK-STAT3 and MAPK pathways. It was originally identified by its ability to induce macrophage differentiation in leukemia cells and subsequently recognized as a critical factor for maintaining mouse embryonic stem cell pluripotency. LIF is not required for human ESC pluripotency but supports hematopoietic progenitor expansion, neuronal differentiation, and trophoblast implantation. In cell culture, LIF is indispensable for standard mESC maintenance protocols.

Q&A

Q1: What is  LIF mainly used for?

LIF is primarily used for HSC expansion, dendritic cell differentiation, immunotherapy research, and lymphoid progenitor development.

Q2: Is this LIF suitable for serum-free culture systems?

Yes. EastMabBio recombinant LIF is compatible with serum-free, xeno-free, and chemically defined media systems.

Q3: How should recombinant LIF be stored?

Lyophilized protein should be stored at -20°C or below. After reconstitution, aliquot and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Q4: What shipping conditions are used?

Products are shipped on dry ice with validated cold-chain packaging to maintain stability during international transportation.

Q5: Do you provide QC documents?

Yes. COA, MSDS, TSE-BSE statements, endotoxin reports, bioactivity data, and additional QC documentation are available upon request.
