General description
Platelet-Derived Growth Factor AA is a homodimeric isoform that signals through PDGFR-αα receptors to promote fibroblast, smooth muscle cell, and glial cell proliferation. It is essential for wound healing, tissue repair, and mesenchymal cell expansion. Recombinant Human PDGF-AA Protein (Y07001H) is expressed from mammalian cells. It contains AA Ser 87 - Thr 211 (Accession # P04085), and is widely used in advanced cell culture, wound healing research, and mesenchymal cell biology.
Application
· Fibroblast and Smooth Muscle Cell Proliferation — Drives growth of connective tissue and vascular wall cells.
· Glial Cell and Schwann Cell Expansion — Supports the proliferation of peripheral nervous system glial cells.
· Wound Healing and Granulation Tissue Formation — Models tissue repair mechanisms in dermal and mucosal wounds.
· Mesenchymal Stem Cell Culture — Enhances expansion and maintains multipotency of bone marrow-derived MSCs.
· Serum-Free Culture Systems — Suitable for chemically defined and xeno-free cell culture media.

Backgroud
PDGF-AA is a homodimeric isoform of the PDGF family that binds exclusively to PDGFR-αα homodimers, distinguishing it from PDGF-BB and PDGF-AB which also engage PDGFR-β-containing receptors. This restricted receptor specificity limits PDGF-AA activity primarily to cells expressing PDGFR-α, including fibroblasts, smooth muscle cells, glial cells, and mesenchymal stem cells. PDGF-AA activates receptor tyrosine kinase signaling through PI3K-AKT and RAS-MAPK pathways to promote cell survival, proliferation, and migration. It is particularly important for embryonic development, wound healing, and the expansion of mesenchymal cell populations in culture.
Q&A
Q1: What is PDGF-AA mainly used for?
PDGF-AA is primarily used for fibroblast and smooth muscle cell proliferation, glial cell expansion, wound healing research, and MSC culture.
Q2: Is this PDGF-AA suitable for serum-free culture systems?
Yes. EastMabBio recombinant PDGF-AA is compatible with serum-free, xeno-free, and chemically defined media systems.
Q3: How should recombinant PDGF-AA be stored?
Lyophilized protein should be stored at -20°C or below. After reconstitution, aliquot and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Q4: What shipping conditions are used?
Products are shipped on dry ice with validated cold-chain packaging to maintain stability during international transportation.
Q5: Do you provide QC documents?
Yes. COA, MSDS, TSE-BSE statements, endotoxin reports, bioactivity data, and additional QC documentation are available upon request."
