General description
Interleukin-17A is the founding member of the IL-17 cytokine family and a key driver of neutrophilic inflammation, tissue remodeling, and autoimmune pathology. It orchestrates protective immunity against extracellular pathogens while contributing to chronic inflammatory diseases. Recombinant Human IL-17A Protein (Y06601H) is expressed from mammalian cells. It contains AA Ile 20 - Ala 155 (Accession # Q16552), and is widely used in advanced cell culture, immunology research, and autoimmune disease modeling.
Application
· Th17 Cell Differentiation and Function — Models IL-17A production and signaling in T helper 17 cell research.
· Neutrophil Recruitment and Activation — Induces CXCL1, CXCL8, and G-CSF production for granulocyte mobilization.
· Psoriasis and Skin Inflammation Studies — Promotes keratinocyte hyperproliferation and antimicrobial peptide expression.
· Osteoclastogenesis and Bone Destruction — Drives RANKL-dependent osteoclast formation in rheumatoid arthritis models.
· Serum-Free Culture Systems — Suitable for chemically defined and xeno-free cell culture media.

Backgroud
Interleukin-17A, also known as IL-17A or CTLA-8, is a disulfide-linked homodimeric cytokine produced primarily by Th17 cells, γδ T cells, and innate lymphoid cells. It signals through the IL-17RA/IL-17RC heterodimeric receptor complex, activating NF-κB and MAPK pathways through the adaptor protein Act1 to induce a characteristic transcriptional program of pro-inflammatory cytokines, chemokines, and matrix metalloproteinases. IL-17A is essential for protective immunity against extracellular bacteria and fungi, particularly at mucosal barriers, through recruitment and activation of neutrophils and enhancement of epithelial antimicrobial defenses. However, dysregulated IL-17A production drives the pathology of psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and multiple sclerosis. Therapeutic monoclonal antibodies targeting IL-17A or its receptor have demonstrated remarkable efficacy in these autoimmune conditions. In research applications, IL-17A is used to model Th17-mediated inflammation, study neutrophil biology, investigate osteoclast differentiation in bone destruction, and establish psoriasis-like phenotypes in skin organoid and keratinocyte culture systems.
Q&A
Q1: What is IL-17 mainly used for?
IL-17A is primarily used for Th17 cell research, neutrophil recruitment studies, psoriasis modeling, and osteoclastogenesis investigations.
Q2: Is this IL-17 suitable for serum-free culture systems?
Yes. EastMabBio recombinant IL-17 is compatible with serum-free, xeno-free, and chemically defined media systems.
Q3: How should recombinant IL-17 be stored?
Lyophilized protein should be stored at -20°C or below. After reconstitution, aliquot and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Q4: What shipping conditions are used?
Products are shipped on dry ice with validated cold-chain packaging to maintain stability during international transportation.
Q5: Do you provide QC documents?
Yes. COA, MSDS, TSE-BSE statements, endotoxin reports, bioactivity data, and additional QC documentation are available upon request.
