General Description
Epidermal Growth Factor is a potent mitogen that stimulates proliferation and differentiation of epithelial cells, fibroblasts, and keratinocytes. It is an essential component of organoid culture media and serum-free formulations for diverse epithelial cell types. Recombinant Porcine EGF Protein (Y00811P) is expressed from Yeast cells. It contains AA N970-R1022 (Accession # Q00968), and is widely used in cell agriculture, developmental biology, and veterinary biotechnology.
Application
· Porcine Embryonic Stem Cell Pluripotency Maintenance — Prevents differentiation and sustains self-renewal in pESC culture.
· Cell-Cultured Pork Production — Supports the expansion and genetic stability of porcine pluripotent stem cells.
· Porcine Cloning and Nuclear Transfer — Enhances the efficiency of somatic cell nuclear transfer protocols.
· Porcine Embryo Development Research — Models early embryogenesis and inner cell mass formation.
· Serum-Free Culture Systems — Suitable for chemically defined and xeno-free cell culture media.

Epidermal Growth Factor, also known as EGF or URG, was originally isolated from mouse submaxillary glands and identified by its ability to accelerate eyelid opening in newborn mice. It is synthesized as a large transmembrane precursor that is proteolytically cleaved to release the mature 53-amino acid peptide. EGF signals through the EGF receptor (EGFR/ERBB1), a receptor tyrosine kinase that homodimerizes or heterodimerizes with ERBB family members to activate RAS-MAPK, PI3K-AKT, and STAT signaling cascades. In organoid culture, EGF is the universal driver of epithelial cell proliferation, working in concert with Wnt agonists and BMP inhibitors to sustain stem cell populations and enable long-term passaging. Its mitogenic activity extends to fibroblasts, keratinocytes, and diverse epithelial cell types, making it indispensable for skin tissue engineering, corneal regeneration, and cancer research.
Q1: What is porcine EGF mainly used for?
Porcine EGF is primarily used for cell-cultured pork production, wound healing research, intestinal organoid culture, and mammary gland development.
Q2: Is this porcine EGF suitable for serum-free culture systems?
Yes. EastMabBio recombinant porcine EGF is compatible with serum-free, xeno-free, and chemically defined media systems.
Q3: How should recombinant porcine EGF be stored?
Lyophilized protein should be stored at -20°C or below. After reconstitution, aliquot and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Q4: What shipping conditions are used?
Products are shipped on dry ice with validated cold-chain packaging to maintain stability during international transportation.
Q5: Do you provide QC documents?
Yes. COA, MSDS, TSE-BSE statements, endotoxin reports, bioactivity data, and additional QC documentation are available upon request.
