General description
Platelet-Derived Growth Factor BB (PDGF-BB) is a potent mitogen for mesenchymal cells, driving fibroblast, smooth muscle cell, and glial cell proliferation. It plays critical roles in wound healing, angiogenesis, and pericyte recruitment. Recombinant Human PDGF-BB Protein (Y03411) is expressed from mammalian cells. It contains AA Ser 82 - Thr 190 (Accession # P01127), and is widely used in advanced cell culture, vascular biology, and regenerative medicine research.
Application
· Cell-Cultured Beef Production — Supports the proliferation of bovine fibroblasts and mesenchymal cells in structured meat constructs.
· Bovine Wound Healing and Tissue Repair — Models granulation tissue formation and angiogenesis.
· Bovine Smooth Muscle Cell Culture — Promotes growth and phenotypic modulation of vascular smooth muscle cells.
· Bovine Tendon and Ligament Engineering — Supports collagen synthesis and matrix deposition in connective tissue.
· Serum-Free Culture Systems — Suitable for chemically defined and xeno-free cell culture media.

Backgroud
Platelet-Derived Growth Factor BB (PDGF-BB), also known as SIS or SSV, is a homodimeric member of the PDGF family. PDGF-BB is the most broadly active PDGF isoform, capable of binding all PDGF receptor combinations (PDGFR-αα, PDGFR-αβ, and PDGFR-ββ) with high affinity. It is a critical survival factor for pericytes and regulates vascular permeability and blood-brain barrier integrity. Genetic deletion of PDGF-B in mice results in lethal vascular abnormalities due to pericyte deficiency. In cell culture, PDGF-BB serves as an essential growth supplement for mesenchymal stem cell expansion, neural crest-derived cell maintenance, and fibroblast proliferation assays.
Q&A
Q1: What is PDGF-BB mainly used for?
PDGF-BB is primarily used for MSC expansion, smooth muscle cell culture, angiogenesis research, and wound healing studies.
Q2: Is this PDGF-BB suitable for serum-free culture systems?
Yes. EastMabBio recombinant PDGF-BB is compatible with serum-free, xeno-free, and chemically defined media systems.
Q3: How should recombinant PDGF-BB be stored?
Lyophilized protein should be stored at -20°C or below. After reconstitution, aliquot and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Q4: What shipping conditions are used?
Products are shipped on dry ice with validated cold-chain packaging to maintain stability during international transportation.
Q5: Do you provide QC documents?
Yes. COA, MSDS, TSE-BSE statements, endotoxin reports, bioactivity data, and additional QC documentation are available upon request.
